ISA Advice Merseyside
ISA is the government’s way of encouraging you to invest in stocks and shares by allowing tax advantages.
Shares and shares ISA is different from cash ISAs, which are just tax-free savings accounts.
A stocks and shares Isa allows you to deposit money in a variety of investments such as unit trusts, open-ended investment company companies (OEICs) and investment companies, and government and corporate bonds. This means that your investment may go up and down.
You can also buy individual stocks and putting them into an Isa this is known as a self-select stocks and shares Isa.
Tax benefits of ISA are as follows -
- Do not pay tax on the income you receive from your ISA savings and investments.
- No tax on capital gains arising on your investments.
- You can take money out at any time (but some types have a notice period).
- You do not have to tell the Inland Revenue about income and capital gains from ISA savings and investments.
